Walk On Water was a Swedish synth-pop band whose clearest influence was
Depeche Mode, although
WOW favored "uplifting" Christian lyrics to the oft-suicidal poetry of those Europop giants. There are also traces of other, similar bands --
Dream Academy,
Erasure,
Enigma. The music is overly bubbly, the vocals way too eager, and the low budget shows. But the production is surprisingly creative, and the tunes are often quite engaging (the eco-friendly "North Sea Town" is especially catchy). Unfotunately, this record seems to have sold poorly; maybe that had something to do with the inexplicable 10-minute stretch of jungle sound effects at the end of the album.
