This independent 1998 release was
Spanic Boys' first studio effort since 1993's
Dream Your Life Away. It was issued partly due to the restlessness of avid fans clamoring for something new. It also demonstrated that this father/son duo was still active and fully capable of writing engaging roots rock. Like their early-'90s Rounder releases,
Walk Through Fire mixes early rock & roll, country, and acoustic pop with catchy melodies and timeless vocal and guitar harmonies. However, unlike albums like
Strange World and
Dream Your Life Away, this offering lacks the overt psychedelic touches present on those records and more closely resembles their earlier recordings,
Spanic Boys and
Early Spanic Boys.
