On
Wall of Folk, their eleventh studio album,
Fiddler's Green offer another dose of their "Irish speed-folk." With guests Michael Rhein and Marco Zorzytzky (the singer and bagpipe player from medieval metal group
In Extremo), the folk-rock band from Erlangen, Germany, present a new set of songs which mix Irish folk music with rock and punk, with some ballads thrown in for good measure. The album also includes cover versions of two Irish traditional songs, "Irish Rover" and "Dirty Old Town."
Wall of Folk entered the German album charts at number 24 -- the band's highest chart position so far. [Wall of Folk is also available as a "deluxe edition" which adds a second CD with seven bonus tracks and a DVD with a live concert recorded at Summer Breeze 2010.] ~ Christian Genzel
