Combining the fast-paced bounce of the classic Miami bass scene with a taste of the infamous "Dirty South" sound,
71 North delivers a hard and exuberant blend on
Watch Us Roll. This full-length debut was inspired by the success of the club hits "Cleveland Shuffle" and "Boodie Bounce," so the group attempts to replicate their dance anthem magic throughout the rest of the record. But much like efforts from previous club crossovers
the Outhere Brothers, the repetitive nature of the genre dooms their album's success. There are definitely several catchy and fun club anthems to be found here, but when heard back to back it begins to become a serious detriment to the overall record. The usual throbbing bass beats and anxious percussion accompanies the simplistic booty chants, but with no change of pace the album renders itself boring by the fourth track. There are a few decent singles hidden within, but mostly this is the sound of a group that hasn't moved beyond a formula that was played-out seven years earlier. ~ Bradley Torreano
