In 2014, back when they were known as Klo, cousins Chloe Kaul (vocals) and Simon Lam (production) attracted attention with charming ambient electro-pop in the form of "Make Me Wonder." Their debut single, it led to deals with Ghostly International (in the U.S.) and PIAS subsidiary Different (elsewhere) that fostered Well Worn, their second EP. As on first EP Cusp, Kaul and Lam skillfully synthesize bedroom-listening pop, 2-step garage, and the wispier aspects of contemporary R&B, like their personal playlists might include Little Dragon, Sweet Female Attitude, and Tinashe. Well Worn indeed offers more cozy, tautly constructed ballads and intimate club tracks. Although each one of the five tracks is well-defined, they're unobtrusive to a near fault, accomplished and pleasant but ultimately unexceptional.
