Bring me the head of the A&R man who believed in this band enough to sign them to a major label. Words cannot describe how horrible
Watcha Gonna Do Honky? is. Song titles such as "Alcoholic Mama," "I Wanna Be on Welfare," and "Hair in My Teeth Again" do much to clue the listener in as to the content inside, but nothing can prepare you for the sheer vapidness of lyrics such as "I'm moving down the road and I'm trying to get my rocks off/There's too many trucks and I can't jack-off." It's not that juvenile rock & roll can't be fun (think 1984-era
Van Halen or the glory days of hair rock), but
Honky Toast push the limits of stupidity past the breaking point. The only thought the album provokes is why on earth Andy Johns, who's worked on such landmark albums as
Exile on Main St., would sign on to produce these imbeciles. ~ Steve Kurutz
