Grass Records has something of a track record in releasing disposably poppy punk.
When it was Fun isn't particularly bad, as far as disposably poppy punk goes -- but considering the plethora of albums in this vein to be released throughout the nineties, the record would have to be much more than not-particularly-bad to be worthwhile. The real question here is how bands like
Green Day or
Blink 182 manage to climb the pop charts with this sound, while seemingly hundreds of indistinguishable bands wind up with rightly-overlooked Grass releases. ~ Nitsuh Abebe
