Where Are We From is the fourth record from French-born artist Tender Forever, aka Melanie Valera. Valera flirts between the matured sound of a well-seasoned traveler and unrelenting wistful melodies here that combine the melancholy and exuberance of her previous work. The album is almost unconsciously themed around the notion of journeying, tracks “The Road Was Unkind,” “Runaway,” and the title track all possess messages of wisdom and strength, yet are accompanied by luscious melodies and jagged, off-beat rhythms throughout.
