It sounds like singer Melissa Swingle has been listening to too many
Exene Cervenka records. Her baleful whine is a dead ringer for the beloved member of the seminal punk band
X. As a matter of fact, the entire approach of this alt-country band seems a bit too self-conscious and derivative. Maybe if they weren't trying so hard to sound edgy and twangy on tunes like "Work on the Railroad" and "Crazy Love" they might develop a more honest, original sound. ~ Tim Sheridan
