After over a decade of silence, Seattle rock outfit Acceptance followed up their full-length 2005 debut with their sophomore set in early 2017. With a sound that became less Jimmy Eat World and more Killers, they continued in that grand and expansive pop/rock vein for 2020's EP Wild. At a slim four tracks, the set is a quick dose of their expert brand of hook-friendly, arena-ready anthems. Although a bittersweet air hangs over everything, drums gallop and guitars twinkle on the yearning "Midnight," while a propulsive dance beat and singalong chorus signal the beating heart of '80s nostalgia on "Wasted Nights." Touches of Phantoms and Colliding by Design pop up here and there, but "Cold Air" remains the most classic-sounding of the bunch. Even if it takes another decade for a third album, at least Acceptance have gifted fans with this fine quartet of tracks to keep them sated.
