Wadada Leo Smith released two fantastic double-disc sets with their great Yo Miles! band (Upriver and Sky Garden) that, unfortunately, went out of print far too quickly. So
Smith decided to take all the originals (that is to say, the non-
Miles-penned tunes) from those albums and re-release them with some previously unreleased live material. The results are the digital-only Yo Miles: Lightning and Yo Miles: Shinjuku albums. Shinjuku takes four cuts from Sky Garden and augments them with a 25-minute previously unreleased live cut, "Muhammed Ali." ~ Sean Westergaard
