Yucca is the debut release from Manchester lo-fi outfit Milk Maid. The creation of former Nine Black Alps bassist Martin Cohen -- who recorded the album in his Manchester flat -- it flits between the dark lyrics of “Dead Wrong” and the disarmingly sweet melodies of “Girl.” This is Cohen’s first foray into songwriting and demonstrates his dreamy, pop-tinged melodies while blending the fuzzy lo-fi production and reverb-washed guitars with poise.
