Jaime Camil issued his debut album,
Para Estar Contigo, in the summer of 2000, but he had been well-known in Mexico and throughout the Latin community long before that. His performance career began under the influence of this mother, a well-known Brazilian vocalist, when he was only five years old. He also appeared on Spanish-language television programs in Mexico and the U.S. That notariety helped get him a lot of high-profile help on his debut, including compositions by Pachy Lopez,
Rudy Perez, Hal Batt, Claudia Brant, Eduardo Osorio, and
Javier Rios. ~ Stacia Proefrock
