With a couple of exceptions this Motown Christmas collection is culled from the label's legendary late-'60s and early-'70s heyday when artists like
the Jackson 5 and
Stevie Wonder scored major holiday hits with songs like "Up on the House Top" and "What Christmas Means to Me." A couple of later-era Motown tracks like
the Four Tops' 1995 rendering of "The Christmas Song" and
Boyz II Men's 1993 take on "Let It Snow!" also make an appearance among various other well-known Yuletide classics sung by
the Supremes,
the Temptations,
Smokey Robinson,
Marvin Gaye, and more. These classic Motown vibes and the familiar holiday fare make this a solid Christmas playlist. ~ Timothy Monger
