The June 26, 2000, concert in Hamburg, Germany, proved to be one of the top sellers in
Pearl Jam's series of official bootlegs of the band's 2000 European tour. The main reason for this is the presence of cover versions of "Crazy Mary" by
Victoria Williams and "Baba O'Riley" by
the Who for the only time in Europe. However, it is also a really good show with the band in top form as the tour nears an end. The band starts fast with four rockers in a row, instead of its usual practice of opening with a slower song and building to a climax. That energy continues throughout. Guitarist
Mike McCready contributes some great solos to favorites like "Even Flow" and the show-closing staple "Yellow Ledbetter." Even the German crowd stands out by providing strong backing vocals to the classic ballad "Black." Although this a shorter concert compared to others on the tour, the set list and the great vibes make it one of the highest priority listens in the Europe 2000 series. ~ Steven Jacobetz
