A beautifully contemplative album that takes a step away from the strictures of soundtrack needs, mixing a selection of material from sources around the world; it blends together work by artists as divergent as
Somei Satoh,
Michael Stearns, and
Dead Can Dance, as well as indigenous selections, according to the inspirations of director Ron Fricke. The art with the production of the album is in the balancing of tracks to form the whole. The album thus presents quite a different experience from the film, though one no less engaging and transfixing. ~ Steven McDonald
