Canadian-American-Japanese R&B singer George Nozuka's debut album, Believe, made its way onto the charts of multiple countries on its release, notably Japan's digital sales. His sound on Believe is light, pleading, and all the things that a modern Japanese urban singer shoots for. This is territory held on U.S. charts by boy band projects,
Ne-Yo, and the like. With a dose of multicultural heritage and a bit of styling to make the sound acceptable across markets (and a couple of bonus videos on the Japanese release), Believe marked a first step for a promising singer. On a tangential note, the album also marked the first and shortest link between a Japanese charting musician and
Kevin Bacon -- Nozuka's aunt is actress Kyra Sedgwick, also the wife of
Bacon.
