This double-disc collection contains all of the work of author, composer, sound architect, and strategist
David Toop recorded for Belgium's Sub Rosa label between 1996 and 2003. Disc one commences with the album 37th Floor at Sunset from 2000 along with "Tricyrtis Latifolia" and "Kolade Spirit," both from 2002. The former originally appeared on the various-artists' compilation album
Floating Foundation, Vol. 2 , while the latter showed up on another comp, Konstantin Raudive: The Voices of the Dead. Disc two features the acclaimed
Black Chamber album from 2003. Collaborators on this date include
Lol Coxhill, Paul Burwell,
Tom Recchion, Terry Day, and Yurihito Watanabe. The final selection shifts the set's chronological order all the way back to 1996, when
Toop contributed the nearly 11-minute "Boneless" to L'Inachevé/The Unfinished, a strategically arranged thematic album of featured compositions and performances from Locust,
Lilith, and Mick Harris. ~ Thom Jurek
