How does a K-pop group differentiate themselves in an oversaturated music market? For GOT7, the answer is simple: play to each member’s strengths. JB, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, Yugyeom, and BamBam, the JYP Entertainment septet known as GOT7, have been performing together since their debut in 2014, establishing themselves as one of the biggest K-pop boy bands on the planet with their acrobatic B-boy choreography and their skilled, hard-hitting hip-hop and harmonious R&B-pop performances. The 10-track Breath of Love : Last Piece, the group’s fourth studio album, is a celebration of their individual gifts and a love letter to those they most adore: their fans, iGOT7 (referred to as “ahgase”). Whistled opener “Breathe” is effervescent, like butterflies in the stomach, the logical partner to track two, “LAST PIECE,” a synthy EDM declaration of the desperation infatuation often inspires. The remainder of the album is similarly sentimental, from the robotic rap of “SPECIAL” to the energetic jazz of “Thank You, Sorry.”
