Breezy's pre-release campaign began with "Iffy," a carefree bumping track with boastful lyrics -- references to jewelry, a vehicle, and alcohol, and the use of a derogatory term for women, all packed into the first four lines -- indicating that the album would not be heralded as
Chris Brown's most grown work. While many other tracks are full of the belligerent swagger the singer/rapper has been slinging for well over a decade, his tenth album also contains some of the smoothest R&B he has made, such as the mid-'80s-flavored "WE (Warm Embrace)," the seductive
H.E.R. duet "Closure," and the faintly gleaming "Slide."
Brown is well-matched (for one reason or another) with most of his featured artists, including
Lil Baby,
Jack Harlow, and
Tory Lanez. ~ Andy Kellman
