This set is brief -- only ten tracks -- but it’s full of wonderful sides.
Charlie Louvin was the guitar and harmony vocal half of the
Louvin Brothers duo with his brother
Ira Louvin, who played mandolin and sang high-tenor lead vocals, in the 1950s and early '60s (the brothers stopped performing together in 1963, two years before
Ira's death in a terrible car accident).
Charlie went on to a long solo career, and this set collects some of his highlights, including remakes of “I Don’t Believe You’ve Met My Baby” (the original version was a number one hit for
the Louvin Brothers in 1956) and “Cash on the Barrel Head” (the original by
the Louvin Brothers went to number seven on the charts, also in 1956).
