Dave Grusin has achieved as much renown as a film composer as he has for his skills as a jazz keyboardist, and
Cinemagic combines both of these aspects of
Grusin's talent. Accompanied by no less than
the London Symphony Orchestra,
Grusin plays some of the themes from the long list of movies he's scored over the years. The results attest to both his ability on the ivories and his varied compositional talents, as he leads the orchestra through everything from the poignant, reflective theme for On Golden Pond to the jaunty bounce of his music for Heaven Can Wait.
Cinemagic surely won't please those who prefer a jazzier
Grusin, but it will appeal to those with an ear for soundtrack music. ~ Jim Allen
