This album is a pleasant if unchallenging up-tempo pop/rock vehicle, built around the Top 20 hit title track.
Rambeau sounds like another
Tommy Roe or
Gary Lewis, although he does surprisingly well on "It's Not Unusual" and "Save the Last Dance for Me" -- no one will forget
Tom Jones or
the Drifters, respectively, but they aren't bad enough to switch past, either. Nothing here was exactly cutting edge, even from the ranks of pop/rock crooners of the period, though
Rambeau has some pleasing originals interspersed with the cover versions, including "Don't Believe Him." The Collectables Records CD reissue from the spring of 2000 offers good sound and some reasonably informative if loosely structured sleeve notes. ~ Bruce Eder
