Dalmatian serves as a supplement to Stop Talking, consisting of 13 previously unreleased tracks from the sessions that produced that 2017 album. Like that record, Dalmatian effectively serves as a kaleidoscope of pure pop tropes that were established in the '60s and expanded in the '90s. Price is equally at ease with the stately pianos of "Fever Dream" and the hardened guitars of "Roller Coaster," to name two extremes that sit side by side on Dalmatian, and the rest of the record exists somewhere on this spectrum, sliding between soft, sweet melodies and punchy hooks. Because he doesn't indulge in his production -- it's layered but clean -- his songwriting stands out, and it's impressive: he's clearly indebted to his British Invasion and power pop forefathers, but he never relies on pastiche, preferring to craft bold, colorful songs that stand on their own merits.
