Devilswork: A Tribute to Ministry is a shade above most of the other tribute albums on the Dwell label, with various low-profile alternative metal, death metal, and industrial bands employing their respective genres' bags of tricks to place a different stamp on the material.
Ministry's music actually holds up better under reinterpretation than most straight-ahead metal, since it helped pave the stylistic paths many of these bands now tread upon. Not everything here works, and sometimes it's hard to shake the feeling that this release is pure product, but overall, it isn't bad for a tribute album. ~ Steve Huey
