Barely a year after their 2007 sophomore release,
Tension,
Dizmas migrated from Credential Recordings to the more "mainstream" Christian collective, Forefront Records, home of high-profile acts like
Audio Adrenaline,
tobymac, and
Rebecca St. James. Fans may have first questioned the band's placement on such a roster of radio-friendly, production-oriented artists. However,
Dizmas more than adequately proves its place alongside these popular acts with a raw guitar rock that focuses on the dualistic core of true Christian story-telling. Frontman Zach Zegan describes what is "Worth Fighting For" -- the simple act of doing what's right. He sings of hope and perseverance in a turbulent world, one that is represented by spiraling guitar riffs and bounteous rhythmic enterprises. The group benefits from the expertise of producer
Steve Wilson (
Juliana Theory,
Hawk Nelson,
Jonezetta), who knows a thing or two about crafting a modern rock record. Although fans will notice several songs rehashed from
Tension, this self-titled project is worth owning for its new tracks, which indicate a newer, more concrete direction for the band. ~ Jared Johnson
