Devoting almost an entire CD to unaccompanied bass solos would seem to be a big mistake, but
Glen Moore has the imagination and the skill to enable him to pull it off. "Oxeye" is a rhythmic masterpiece with the flavor of a folk song, while his sense of humor comes across in the strident miniature "If You Can't Beat 'Em, Beat 'Em! (for Tonya Harding)" and the equally sly "Four Queasy Pieces." A haunting rendition of the tragically short-lived bassist
Scott LaFaro's "Jade Visions" is the only track not written by
