Julie Fowlis is currently the hottest property in Scottish Gaelic folk and in this new band she and her husband
Éamon Doorley team up with guitarist Ross Martin and another of Gaeldom's brightest stars,
Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, who plays with Doorley in the Irish band
Danú. On this collaborative effort, whose title translates both as "to braid" and "inheritance" and is the first release on Fowlis's own Machair label, they explore the links between the Scots and Irish music traditions through a collection of cheerful jigs, reels and lilting ballads sung in two of the sweetest voices folk has to offer.
