This is a collection of duets between Brazilian vocalist
Gal Costa and numerous guest stars. While the 14 tracks are predominantly bossa nova-oriented, there are touches of Latin jazz and standards, such as a Portuguese-language version of "Someone to Watch Over Me" that features the velvet tones of
Cauby Peixoto. Most tracks are also rather lush and mellow, but for the rousing "A Luz de Tieta" with
Caetano Veloso and the modern vibe of "Vida," which features both
Gilberto Gil and
Obina Shok. ~ Johnny Loftus
