Instrumental solo album by the São Paulo violão (six and 12 strings) duo that has been active as an accompanist for major names of MPB. The album has interesting sounds, as the bowed violões of the northeastern-inspired original "Repent." "Do Outro Lado Do Oceano" is also a good theme, but the padding is excessive. The Iberian-inspired "Visitando Villa," another duo original, would also benefit from the non-existence of programmed drumming/keyboarding. Fortunately the two solo guitars predominate in the rest of the album. Good acoustic arrangements for "Tropicália" (
Caetano Veloso), the wonderfully lyrical "Palhaço" (
Egberto Gismonti), and other songs. The album is not a ground-breaking release, but will appeal to all who like good, sincere well-played guitar instrumental music.
