Many artists re-recorded their earlier mono hits in stereo as that technology became more widespread, and
Eddy Arnold Sings Them Again is exactly that -- new stereo recordings of 11 of
Arnold's hits from 1947-1956. A 12th song, "I Walk Alone," wasn't a hit for
Arnold but was one of his earliest recordings in 1945. This kind of re-recording project is often disposable, and
Eddy Arnold Sings Them Again is no exception. The album package served its purpose in 1960 by providing fans with a higher-fidelity and more modern-sounding anthology of popular songs, but in most cases
Arnold did not significantly update the arrangements. One exception is the remake of his 1950 hit "The Lovebug Itch," which is performed in a mild rock & roll style.
