Hellogoodbye's ultra-percolating 2004 eponymous EP offers six quasi-electronic emo-pop tunes that serve as natural lead-ins to the band's Auto-Tuned breakthrough hit "Here (In Your Arms)" from their full-length debut two years later. Though singer/songwriter Forrest Kline would settle into a warmer, more organic production style for his effervescent indie pop on future albums (and already to a degree on the aforementioned Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! And More!), processed vocals, feedback, and trebly synths and guitar effects mark the band's moshy introduction on Drive-Thru Records. [The EP was reissued in 2008 as Hellogoodbye (EP Completionists Collection A) with nine bonus tracks including demos, remixes, and previously unreleased songs, and with 15 bonus tracks in a special-edition EP/DVD bundle that included OMG HGB DVD ROTFL.] ~ Marcy Donelson
