Although he began recording in 1949, New Orleans piano player
Fats Domino didn't capture broad attention until 1955, when his classic "Ain't That a Shame" crossed over onto the pop charts. With his relaxed (but driving) piano style and his easy, warm vocals,
Domino had several hits over the next decade, including his signature song, "Blueberry Hill." Both "Ain't That a Shame" and "Blueberry Hill" are collected here, along with "I Want to Walk You Home" (
Fats was big on walking), but this is a woefully short compilation, and more comprehensive single-disc sets are available. ~ Steve Leggett
