This is Susan Reed in her own element, doing traditional American, English, and Irish songs, accompanying herself on the harp and zither. The voice is clear and pure, the interpretations unadorned and honest, and the entire release, a delight in 1950, remains so today. Sony Music should combine this with her Songs of the Auvergne (which they did way back when, onto a 12" LP), and her RCA Victor sides from three years earlier, onto one killer CD.
