Like some of their N.Y.C. counterparts,
the Realistics stick with basic rock & roll on the
Go Ahead EP. It's an elastic mix of punchy guitar riffs, speedy percussion, and energetic, falsetto-friendly vocals. Songs like "Angie" (not to be confused with
the Rolling Stones' lament to Angela Bowie) and "Tiny Avalanches" thrive on new wave aesthetics, while the frenzied guitar romp of "It's Alright, It's OK" showcases
the Realistics' overall ballsy impression. The
Go Ahead EP rollicks its way into the garage rock revolution of the new millennium with no signs of stopping. The Realistics are honest in their approach and keep things simple for a sweet punk-pop package. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
