Former
Runrig vocalist
Donnie Munro tackles a big theme that's been done many times before, but brings a nicely individual slant to it all. The music on Heart of America: Across the Great Divide is what you'd expect from someone who spent a long time in the Highlands' biggest rock band, often anthemic with strong, pounding rhythms. But there's also enough variety to keep things really interesting, such as the mouth music
Munro brings into "Mo Chruinneag Bhoideach." You get the sense of a very personal album that celebrates its Scotch heritage and the pioneering spirit that attracted so many abroad, as well as plenty of music to get the blood pumping. ~ Chris Nickson
