Plenty of dance producers attempt to impress listeners by cycling through style after style with little attention to whether the music is actually up to snuff. Fortunately, Paul Martin (A&R man at Talkin' Loud) obviously has the taste to differentiate between good music done well and the raft of mediocre exceptions. With the help of producer Tyrrell, Martin crafted a beautiful LP that includes nods to a variety of styles -- disco, jazz-funk, house, acid-jazz, jungle -- but never loses the way via pointless genre experimentation. Sleek and well-honed, with an artistic mix of synthetic and organic ingredients,
Interfearence is an excellent debut. ~ John Bush
