The soundtrack for the 2010 comedy drama It’s Kind of a Funny Story relies heavily on Canadian indie rock collective
Broken Social Scene. The group scored the film, which stars
Emma Roberts, Keir Gilchrist, and Zach Galifianakis, and contributed a brand new track, “Not at My Best,” along with its 2005 hit “Major Label Debut” -- a recording of the full score was not released concurrent with the soundtrack. The rest of the soundtrack is populated by the usual assortment of quirky indie rockers like
the Middle East and
White Hinterland, solid veterans like
the Damned, and offbeat international artists like
Rachid Taha and
Maxence Cyrin, the latter of whom provides a gorgeous instrumental piano rendition of
the Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind.” ~ James Christopher Monger
