Im November 2019 veröffentlichte Johannes Oerding sein sechstes Album Konturen. Wie schon auf Vorgängerplatten wie Für immer ab jetzt (2013), Alles brennt (2015) oder Kreise (2017) setzt der Münsteraner auf gefühlvollen, schwelgerisch produzierten Deutschpop, der sich mit den Unwägbarkeiten des Lebens auseinandersetzt. Diesmal behandelt Oerding aber verstärkt politische und gesellschaftliche Inhalte, kritisiert die Entfremdung durch das Internet ("Anfassen") und kommentiert die Wut in der Bevölkerung ("Besser als jetzt"). Zeit für persönlichere Geschichten bleibt aber doch, zum Beispiel die Trennungsballade "Ich hab dich nicht mehr zu verlier'n", die er mit seiner Partnerin Ina Müller singt. "An guten Tagen" wurde als Single ausgekoppelt. Das Album kam auf Platz 1 der Charts.
