Catalan indie pop forerunners
Mishima are back with their sixth album,
L'Amor Feliç. Thanks in part to the success of
Ordre i Aventura (2010), David Carabén and his band now benefit from a fuller, more textured production and sound, expanding on their guitar-oriented, literary brand of indie rock with newfound confidence. Lyrically, Carabén ponders the many paradigmatic contradictions of love (best encapsulated in their Catalan cover of the
Georges Brassens classic "No Existeix l'Amor Feliç," from which the album derives its title), alternating between intense moments such as the opening "La Vella Ferida" and more direct, lighthearted ones such as the first single, "L'Última Ressaca." ~ Mariano Prunes
