Nino Segarra's follow-up to
Viva la Salsa..! is one of his very best albums. Although this production was somewhat eclipsed over the success of his Musical Productions projects, this features the beginning of the ballad-influenced salsa style, highly enhanced by his own sophisticated charts. Another medley of traditional salsa ("Festival") includes material from
Frankie Ruiz,
Willie Colón, and
Bobby Valentín. The title tune received ample media coverage, but other self-composed material by
Segarra, like "Eres" and "Como Poder Olvidarte," merits a second listening. There are more compositions by the talented Luis Seda ("Mátame" and "Lo Que Yo Quiero" are very enjoyable). A great step up for
Segarra, one that would lead to greater achievements.
