Another attempt to cash in on
Real Life's great work years after the fact,
Let's Fall in Love centers around two other minor singles -- the title track (done up in a "Radio Edit" here) and "Babies" (delivered in a 12" -- but not extended -- dance mix). While this -- like
Send Me an Angel '89 -- is another attempt by MCA to repackage some great records they missed the first time around, it is a spotty display meant to capitalize on their signature single's surprising hit in re-release. Kudos to Curb for including some rarities from the early albums ("Flame," "The Legend," the awesome "Cathedral"), though the rest of it feels like it was sequenced by a machine with no regards as to how the tracks play into one another. Again, as is the case with any of these
Real Life reissues (from Send Me An Angel '89 to
Best of Real Life), the best bet is to find the original issues of "Heartland," "Flame," and "Down Comes the Hammer" and listen to how these songs were originally meant to be heard. ~ Tomas Mureika
