The first attempt of
Limbo with this eponymous EP is a real success. Only one reservation: the first title, "We Are Well," may certainly not be the song most would have chosen to open the disc since it is not as exquisite as the others can be. But as soon as you get to track number two, you will begin to touch the essence of the pop-core
Limbo excel in playing. "Heavenly Creatures" with its cool beginning changing in a heavy guitar melody is a powerfully stirring composition reflecting the mastery of the band. "Rocket" is one of the same kind, and the two tracks are making so great a core for this EP that having a song as beautiful as "Nothing Left" to end it is a pure gift. In this last track the band concentrated more than ever on oppositions: successions of sounds (from rough to smooth), of nice melodic passages and noisy guitar duels, and of voices, out of tune or, in the contrary, very melodic. The disc was recorded by
Iain Burgess in the Black Box studio and has a great quality of production that makes it even more appreciable.
