Sound quality isn't exactly superb here on this 1961 album first out on Strand, but the contents are. Another
House Rockers album featuring
Murphy, saxists
John Calvin and
Johnny Board, bassist
Sam Chatmon, and drummer
Billie Stepney flying high on "Let the Good Times Roll Creole" (likely the only time
Slim and
Bill Haley battled it out for bragging rights on a tune), the crackling title track, and a very oddly titled "What Is the Mare-Rack."
Slim wouldn't make any more albums with this band (after all, they didn't relocate to Paris with him), making it all the more precious.
