An interesting seven track CD featuring adventuresome remixes of four
Miracles' hits, the numbers don't equate because "Tears Of A Clown" is made over twice and "Love Machine" three times.
Fred Coury,
Julian Beeston, and
Julian Synne provide the surgery with the only miscue being the title track "Love Machine," which already benefited from a slammin' original mix; redoing it is akin to asking for a mulligan after you placed a golf shot a foot from the hole. Coury performs two of the "Love Machine" mixes, name thusly
Fred Coury Classic Rendition remix (my fav, cause it sticks closer to the paradigm) and
Fred Coury Groover mix respectively; the other attempt at re-energizing the song is
Julian Beeston's Funky House mix. The tinkering excels on Synne's "Tracks Of My Tears" Interface mix, but
Smokey Robinson sounds stoned on Coury's Fredco mix of "Tears Of A Clown" because of the way Coury drags the miracle man's voice; he redeems himself, however, with a lightening quick Star Mix of the same song, turning Smokey into a charming stuttered, and Beeston's Smokin' Mix on "I Second That Emotion" is a serious bender. At well under $10 the price is right, people who like to take things apart to see how they work will find these most interesting.
