The wonderful first and only studio release of
the Suicide Commandos has recently been reissued by Mercury, and what a wise decision that was. After all this time, it still sounds as aggressive and fun-filled (e.g., "Mosquito Crucifixion") as it did nearly two decades ago. Ahl and
Almaas keep pace just fine, but it's Osgood's guitar that really kicks things into high gear. I haven't a clue who gave the green light to this reissue (the last time I spoke to Osgood, he told me the band didn't own the masters), but to have a piece of arcane regional punk rock like this available again is great news. ~ John Dougan
