Their last release on Prosthetic Records,
Money for Nothing is a rarities compilation from Massachusetts deathcore band
the Acacia Strain. Made up of B-sides from the sessions for 2006's
The Dead Walk and 2008's
Continent, the brief compilation has the less-refined feeling of the band's earlier work, a quality shared by the album's lone previously unreleased track, "Money for Nothing" (no relation, aside from the cover art, to the
Dire Straits song of the same name). While the EP will be of interest to
Acacia Strain fans, the sound here is one they've moved past, making it a release that feels more for posterity than an indicator of what might be on the horizon for the menacing metal band. ~ Gregory Heaney
