With her second album, Chinese-American jazz singer
Bei Xu retains her signature smooth jazz style, but moves away from pop covers and toward jazz standards, as well as continuing to bring together Chinese and Western tastes with her takes on songs by
David Tao and
Teresa Teng. There is a version of
the Beatles' "Strawberry Fields Forever," as well as an original song, "All Alone," with music by producer Norio Shiota and lyrics by
Bei Xu herself. ~ Ian Martin
