Two years after their promising
Magic Seed LP via Blast First, Sweden's
Easy put it all together on this delightful, hard-pop-flourish single. The production is crisper (well done, Micke Herrstrom), the guitars more forceful (better use of reverb), and more proficiently pretty at the same time, the bass and drums more pushing. Most of all, the chorus here comes out of a snappy verse well, doubling the guitars' charge, tacking on angelic backing vocals, and driving the point home. Songs like this were made for the radio, too bad such scant radio here knows about them, remembers them, or buys import singles. The two B-sides "Reach Out, Yvonne," and "New Spring" also greatly benefit from the band's improvement, and the much better sound, reminding slightly of the mid-'80s work of
the Sound (especially that modern church organ sound Max Mayers used to use). If this is what they have for us, hooray for Scandinavia. ~ Jack Rabid
