After a four-year interval,
Givers follow up their bright and driving debut album,
In Light, with the colorfully thoughtful
New Kingdom. While the album sounds more serious in tone, it's still carried by ebullient world folk and African percussion influences, rich vocal harmonies, and wide-ranging instrumentation, including glitzy electronics. Easygoing complexity is the name of the game in the catchy melodies and dance-friendly rhythms of such ambitiously constructed songs as the album's lead single, "Bermuda." ~ Marcy Donelson
